Urgent Care Services
As part of our service offering, we are very proud to be able to offer urgent and emergency care services to patients who are unfortunate enough to become unexpectedly unwell. In this event, we will do everything in our power to prioritise seeing you and your pet, but we do ask for patience in these situations as these cases are often seen on top of an already very busy workload. While we understand the level of stress these situations can cause, please be aware that our vets and veterinary nurses are well-prepared to deal with such situations and will do everything in their power to ensure the best possible outcome for you and your beloved pet.

IMPORTANT NOTE: Please be aware that at Rathmines veterinary hospital, we are NOT in a position to provide veterinary care outside of our normal operating hours due to a number of factors. These include staff burn-out and mental health concerns from over-working and particularly in the emotionally-intense veterinary care environment. Fortunately for our patients and clients, we have a great relationship with our two local ‘after hours’ emergency veterinary care providers: SASH (Small animal Specialist Hospital), in Tuggerah, Central coast and AREC (Animal referral and emergency centre), in Broadmeadow, Newcastle, to whom our patients are referred for urgent after hours’ care.
